Lucknow:  The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, proudly celebrated its 93rd Foundation Day, marking nearly a century of excellence in women’s health, clinical leadership, and pioneering medical education.

The event brought together esteemed faculty members, alumni, residents, and distinguished guests to commemorate the department’s rich legacy and ongoing contributions to maternal and reproductive health. The celebration highlighted the department’s longstanding commitment to clinical innovation, patient care, and scientific advancement.

A key highlight of the occasion was the Foundation Day Oration, delivered on the timely and significant topic: “Endocrine Disruptors and Women’s Health.” By Dr Jaya Chaturvedi HOD at AIIMS Rishikesh the oration shed light on the growing public health concern posed by endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), which are increasingly prevalent in the environment, food systems, and consumer products. The speaker emphasized how these chemicals interfere with hormonal balance and contribute to a range of women’s health issues—including menstrual irregularities, infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), thyroid dysfunction, pregnancy complications, and hormone-dependent cancers.

The foundation day reaffirmed the dedication of the department to advancing women’s health through patient-centered care, innovative teaching, and cutting-edge research and reiterated its vision for the future—strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration and addressing emerging health challenges with scientific rigor. On the occasion of foundation day all the nursing staff of Obstetrics & Gynecology at King George’s Medical University organized cultural program.
