Varanasi: Purvodaya Art Foundation, Odisha, is organising the 6th International Art Workshop “TULIKA” at the Tribal Culture Centre, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on 29th and 30th December 2025. The prestigious event will feature eminent artist and academician Dr. Uttama Dixit as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Uttama Dixit is a distinguished artist, educator, and researcher, currently serving as Professor, Dean, and Head of the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. With over 23 years of teaching experience, she has made remarkable contributions to the fields of painting, applied arts, and visual culture.

Beginning her career in 2003, Dr. Dixit joined BHU in 2007 and rose to the position of Professor in 2018. Her artistic journey includes participation in over 45 group exhibitions, five solo exhibitions, and involvement in numerous national and international art camps, workshops, and seminars. As a resource person and chief guest, she has delivered lectures at several prestigious institutions and has chaired multiple academic sessions.

Dr. Dixit has also coordinated major workshops, curated exhibitions, and led important cultural initiatives at BHU. Her academic contributions include 45 research papers published in national and international journals. She is the author of the book Kashi Sanskriti evam Lok Chitrakala and has written articles for notable magazines and newspapers. She has successfully guided 14 PhD scholars, with seven more currently under her supervision.

Her achievements have been recognised with several honours, including the Kalashree Award (2025), Guru Pranam Samman (2022), and the Padma Shri Dr. Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar Award (2019).

Through its 6th edition, the TULIKA International Art Workshop aims to promote artistic dialogue, creative exchange, and cultural engagement among artists and scholars, further strengthening the landscape of contemporary Indian art and visual education.
