Dr. Kavita Meena Honored with National Medical Service Distinguished Award

Varanasi: On the occasion of World Human Rights Day, Dr. Kavita Meena, Associate Professor
of Anesthesiology at the Trauma Centre, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu
University (IMS-BHU), was honoured with the National Medical Service Distinguished Honor
for her outstanding contributions to critical care medicine, COVID-19 preparedness, medical
education, and her vital role in strengthening the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat
Yojana, ensuring services for economically weaker patients at the Trauma Centre, IMS-BHU.
The award ceremony was held in Gurugram, where the honour— a National Award title
registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs—was presented by former minister Jeevesh
Kumar and noted Bollywood actor Chunky Pandey. Dr. Meena was conferred with Indian
Doctors Pride Award–2025, Dr. Kavita Meena was recognized for her significant research work
on airway management in COVID-positive patients, her excellence in critical care medicine,
and her role as a Master Trainer for COVID-19 third-wave preparedness under an initiative of
the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
The ceremony was organized by a Human Rights and Social Justice organization affiliated with
the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
